August 3rd, 2006 by edtechlab

If you are a Mac user like me, you may have been waiting to use Google’s Picasa Photo Service. You still will have to wait to use the regular photo service but you can try the new Picasa Web Album beta, at least. If you have a google account, you can get a beta Picasa Web Album account right now. Then, download the the Picasa Web Album tool package which includes an iPhoto plugin exporter and Picasa Web Album photo uploader. You get 250 mb of space with the account.

Now there are two ways to upload your photos to Picasa Web Albums — from directly within iPhoto or using drag-and-drop from a standalone application.

For iPhoto users
The Picasa Web Albums Exporter lives right inside iPhoto. Select photos, choose Export in the File or Share menu, and upload them directly to your web album.

For a standalone application
Use the Picasa Web Albums uploader — just drag photos from the Finder and click the Upload button.

August 3rd, 2006 by edtechlab

If you are a blogger, you can get 2 gigs of photo hosting free. Get your free Zooomer Pro account. Check the FAQ. First, you need to open an acccount at Zooomer, upload a photo that you intend to use on your blog on zooomer and then post the photo on your blog. After that, click on the proitizer link on the linked page below.
There is one caveat, if you are an educational blogger, your site may not be accessible if your WAN internet filter blocks photo and video hosting services.
“Official Zooomr Blog : Do We Love Bloggers? Yes We Do! [UPDATED]
UPDATE: Please go to the following URL on Zooomr to redeem your Pro account:

One of things that we hope Zooomr will become in the months ahead is the photo sharing site of choice for bloggers to host their images on. Since we’re new though and need to get the word out we thought the best way to get bloggers to use our site, in addition to building killer blogger friendly features, was to invite all bloggers to join Zooomr and give them a free Zooomr Pro account.”
