AOL offers a free program to evaluate if your Windows computer is up to snuff against the dark side of the net. I tried it out and I found it to be helpful. The program looks like a widget that sits on your desktop. My son’s machine got an excellent rating but lacked PC utilities program to back up and optimize the system. In addition it offered suggestions on setting up MS Internet Explorer to be safer. (some have their doubts) Links to a “how to” section explains how to “fix” your settings.
